1. Santosh has arrogated to himself the right to pass judgement on others, label or brand those who hold contrary views from his and decide what is the truth and what is not.
Eg: He thrashes reports posted by me as partisan propaganda and rumour mongering. Quote: I am disappointed that activists fail to recognize the value of objectivity, level-headed discussion, and the need to refrain from resorting to partisan propaganda and rumor-mongering. Cheers,Santosh Unquote http://www.goanet.org/post.php?name=News&list=goanet&info=2008-October/author&post_id=082534 The meaning of propaganda is misinformation, party line, half truths. Can Santosh substantiate this ? He terms the reports partisan and rumour mongering. The reports posted by me include personal testimonies of victims and articles written by eminent persons like Shashi Tharoor, former Under Secretary General to the UNO and India’s candidate for the post of Secretary General, Khushwant Singh, former editor of Hindustan Times and Illustrated Weekly, Michael Pinto, former IAS officer and member of the Minorities Commission, Michael Saldanha, former Judge of the Karnataka HC, Julio Ribeiro, former DGP and Ambassador to Rumania, George Menezes, former diplomat and expert on management, Ram Punayani, former professor of IIT, Mumbai, Maxwell Pereira, former IPS officer, Dipankar Gupta, Socialogist and Professor at JNU, Dr Joseph D’Souza, President of AICU, Archbishop Agnelo Gracias, B. Santosh claims he is objective and levelheaded in his outlook. This is what he says Mon Oct 13 09:45:35 PDT 2008 Good to see another broader perspective on this problem being posted here. Cheers,Santosh--- On Sun, 10/12/08, Rina Mukherji < rina.mukherji at gmail.com > wrote:> > Contrary to what Indians here and Christians elsewhere have > been told by > evangelical missionaries, media and seculars, the Kandhamal > arson is not, as > it has been concocted, a clash between Hindu and Christian > faithfuls at > all.The truth is that it is a continuation of the clashes > that had started > in early 1990s between the 'Kandha' tribe, which > did not convert to > Christianity, and 'Pana' caste people, most of whom > had converted. > > Religion is the spice added to this mix. http://www.goanet.org/post.php?name=News&list=goanet&info=2008-October/author&post_id=082534 This is what the CM of Orissa has to say on the same subject. http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2008-October/082120.html Santosh was enamoured by S Gurumurthy’s article which he posted on the net (to his credit he later withdrew his remarks once he came to know the loyalties of Gurumurthy). But the fact remains that he found the article by Gurumurthy credible enough in the first instance. Reports by RSS aligned writers like Francois Gauntier and Sudheendra Kulkarni are applauded as ‘broad perspectives’ whilst all the other articles written by eminent persons referred to above are thrashed as ‘partisan propaganda’ and ‘rumour mongering’. Isn’t this pure hypocrisy? Pray who is objective and level headed please? Does this not show where the sympathies of Santosh lie? 3. Santosh can label and brand those who do not agree with him but feels hurt and offended when reciprocated. He has called me a militant political operative. Refer ‘The militant activists and political operatives we see on Goanet will keep on fighting and blaming each other. http://www.goanet.org/post.php?name=News&list=goanet&info=2008-September/author&post_id=080803 I let it pass as I did not want to get bogged down to a personal slugfest and divert my attention to the core issues being debated. Unfortunately, this appears to have been taken as weakness on my part and Santosh felt emboldened to use stronger words like ‘partisan propaganda’ and ‘rumour mongering’ to harm my credibility. However, he feels offended when I use a generic term of ‘apologist for the sangh parivar’. Quote: I would like to kindly request Marshall Mendonza not to keep repeating this derisive comment against people like me. Comments like this can be perceived to be communally motivated. Cheers, Santosh http://www.goanet.org/post.php?name=News&list=goanet&info=2008-October/author&post_id=082649 How can he have double standards? What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. In conclusion, I wish to state that I have been drawn into what is essentially a personal discussion much against my wishes. May I request Santosh to follow some basic ground rules: 1. do not arrogate to yourself all wisdom and intelligence to pass judgement on others and determine what is right or wrong. Make your point and leave it to the readers to decide. 2. attack the message but not the messenger. Do not hit below the belt by labeling or branding anyone. 3. You are not God. Do not believe that you are a fountain of all knowledge. There is much that you and I do not know. Let us all learn from one another. 4. Be a little humble. We all can be wrong at times. With this I extend to you my best wishes with no grudge or malice in my heart. Regards, Marshall -- Hyundai to launch the i20 in India.
