Subject: [Goanet] Have you done the Goan pole dance????

Hi Valerie,

I assume your are a lady, hope I haven't got myself into another gender mixup !
Believe me it's very embarrassing !!

I absolutely understand your predicament and do sympathise with you. The pole
dance you mentioned, "fatti voch, fuddem voch, barik jaa" sounds like a
combination of the woogy woogy, birdy and the pole dance all in the bus.

It's very unfortunate that the Authorities turn a "Nelson's eye" to this sordid
reality. First and foremost the safety of the passengers is compromised,
secondly the sanctity of a human body is compromised and above all traffic laws
are violated, but does any one care ?

First you have to take abuses from the cleaners and conductors if you don't move
and when you move, you find yourself sandwiched from all sides, and it is
certainly very unpleasant and embarrassing especially for a woman in such a
situation. I have heard from my lady friends, relatives and even my family
members of their nightmarish experiences in buses in Goa. I, right for my
childhood, being a shy one would always make sure that there was another person
between me and a lady, that was more to save myself from a smack on my cheek or
the embarrassment of an argument with the lady even if touched my mistake, but
some males do tend go over board, trying to do the "birdie dance" by pushing
their elbows and knees in wrong places of the ladies and even press their
"libidos" onto a lady, a few times I did made sure that such guys feel the nasty
poke of my elbow into their chest or my knee into their unmentionables while
alighting. Animals !!!!

Here in Dubai, the first few seats are reserved only for ladies and in that area
only ladies are allowed to stand and God forbid the person (male) who stands in
that area knowingly or unknowingly because rules are implemented very firmly in
this part of the world, I don't know why this can't be followed in Goa ? The RTO
and it's hierocracy should make sure that the Cleaners and the Conductors are
taken to task along with the owner of the buses for overloading of buses.

We as humans are a very impatient breed, and would like to get to our
destination at the earliest but the limited and the undesired frequency of
buses, leaves us in a very catchy situation but it is definitely up to the
Conductors and the Cleaners to control the flow of commuters onto a bus and to
see that the ladies and the senior citizens are not abused in any way while
traveling. This is what should happen in a civilized world !!!

Are the Goan bus Conductors, Cleaners or even the Police civilized ? I do have
my doubts !!!

In Bombay, the Conductors of BEST buses, whom we call "gantti ka gulam" make
sure that the buses are not over crowded and that there is enough space to move
around, I am sure most of us who have lived in Bombay or traveled by the BEST
buses have heard the Conductors saying "baas karo, baas karo, pichea bus khali
hai" - ting ting and the bus moves on and if you get on to the bus after that,
"ting ting" and the bus stops and the person forced to alight, if Bombay with
such a huge population can be controlled why can't it be done in Goa ?

Since I bought by my m-bike (Yezdi) in 1982 I rarely travel by bus I would
rather face the heat and tan of the sun on my bike than, the feeling of being a
sardine taken for canning to be meal on someone's table !!

BTW if any one notices an Yezdi with Reg No - GDJ 1853 please let me know it was
nicked in 2004. I do miss that bike ! (I don't think that many of them are
around at the moment)
