V.P. Singh was an interesting leader, with some interesting ideas (he
was junked speedily when he got accused of "Mandalisation" by the
elites). But is seven days' state mourning the norm for leaders of the

STATE MOURNING FOR SEVEN DAYS
Panaji, November 28, 2008

As a mark of respect to the departed Leader, Shri V. P. Singh, Former
Prime Minister who passed away on November 27, 2008, the Government of
Goa has declared State Mourning for seven days from November 27 to
December 3, 2008, both days inclusive throughout the State of Goa.

During the period of State mourning, the National Flag will be flown
at Half Mast throughout the State of Goa in all the buildings where it
is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment.
