Who are terrorists? Why do they exist and thrive? Are governments only trying
to eliminate terrorists and prevent terrorism; and not tackling the root causes
that turn humans to be terrorists? Are these questions seriously debated by
Governments around the world? Why is bin Laden against the U.S.? Bin Laden is
an engineer and in fact was trained by the U.S. in warfare and they used his
mercenary services to dispossess USSR of Afganistan. He knew the ins and out of
the country’s labyrinthine caves like the back of his hand. He helped U.S.
repel the USSR . But the policies and attitude of the U.S. did not augur well.
Back home in India too, we have impotent administration to tackle and contain
provocations and nip resentments at the budding stage. We have seen political
wings with militant attitude that have inflicted trauma, both physical and
mental and caused resentment among section of population, and the governments
have just dragged their feet. We have seen states unable to contain atrocities
and vandalism perpetuated against people of other states. Where will all this
resentment flow into? And of course, a nation with a high percentage of
illiteracy, with no tomorrow to look forward to, the breed of terrorists will
certainly increase. See all the poor nations around the Middle East & Africa,
nations with chaotic governments; these are the factories for production of
mercenaries. The ultimate victims are the citizens in all terrorist attacks.
The ones who are mainly responsible for the formation of terrorists due to
their policies and attitude are within their high walls.Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis
