The Digital News service has just flashed the news that Pernem Police Station's
Inspector Nelson Albuquerque has been suspended for ...hold your breath ...
"failure to curb corruption by his subordinates" at Patradevi check post!
Obvioulsly, the senior Police Officers do not believe that they have a
responsibility, too.
Is Dy. S.P. Gundu Naik or SP Bosco George going to be suspended for Inspector
Gad's alleged indecent assault on a 25 year old married woman who had gone
along with her husband to the Porvorim Police Station to lodge a complaint of
assault? The lady has reportedly filed a written complaint with the IGP on 20
November, 2008, copies of which are available with the Press. Or are a little
bit of physical molestation and a few lewd remarks by a Police Inspector on
duty okay?
Incidentally, PI Nelson Albuquerque is the elder brother of PSI Nerlon
Albuquerque, who is fighting the Police establishment in the High Court after
summary termination without even a show-cause notice in the infamous Scarlett
Keeling alleged rape and alleged murder case where the most serious offence as
of now is harbouring a minor [below 18 years] not related by blood or marriage.
This is a charge that some restaurant owners in Goa could well be booked when
keeping below 18-year old boys to clean the tables and floors.
If one is expecting these cops to defend us against terrorists ...with a
motorised canoe and a junk jeep in one of the 3 "Coastal Police Stations" [the
other 2 stationas allegedly do not even have a means of transport ....and a SP
of ANC doubles up as the SP-Coastal Police], one must think again. Perhaps the
Taj, Marriott, Leela and other hotels should file an RTI application with the
SP-HQ at Panaji to wake the Goa Police or petition the Chief of Naval Staff,
Admiral Suresh Mehta [son-in-law of Dr. Jack Sequeira] ....or pray to St. Jude,
the Patron Saint of the hopeless cases ... for protection from terrorists.
When the Panaji Police Station was attacked on 19 February, 2008, they
literally put the girls [20 to 25 year old IRB rookie police women] to defend
the Police honour .....and the SP, Dy SP and Panaji Police Inspector are rueing
their actions to this day ...in the GRP barracks.
"As long as SFX's body is in Goa we are safe" is one way of looking at it.
