Mario, I am amazed at your logic. The standard practice is that if someone feels that the article has not been authored by the person under whose by-line it has appeared, or has been 'sexed' up, it is the responsibility of that person to adduce evidence to support his contention. Mario responds: What about my comments above are you finding so hard to understand? In your previous post you had written, "The article appeared in the Times of India on 28.11.2008. Till date there has been no disclaimer from Mr Ribeiro that the said paragraph was not written by him." In spite of your "standard practice" we have no idea what the facts are since you are assuming that Mr. Ribeiro would have issued a disclaimer, when a) we don't know whether he is aware of the change, and b) whether he issued a disclaimer that the TOI did not publish. Since you were obviously making an assumption based on seeing no disclaimer from Mr. Ribeiro, I asked you to verify directly from Mr. Ribeiro whether he knew about the editing and had made a disclaimer. Marshall wrote: On a separate note, I have personally interacted with Mr Ribeiro for close to 5 years and I can assure you that from what I know of him, he is very unlikely to tolerate any 'sexing' up of his articles nor would any editor dare to take liberty to do so with the kind of respect he and his word commands. Mario responds: Once again you are making wild assumptions about what is likely or unlikely or what an editor would "dare" or not, which is not very assuring when you can easily verify the facts. Since you know him so well why don't you just ask him? That way we would all know for sure.
