This message is in reply to message: 8, dated: Sat, 20 Dec 2008 from: "Marshall Mendonza" on the subject: Foreign-funded charity
I feel above subject i.e. Foreign-funded charity disturbed Marshall the most why I don't know! Secondly Marshall you should have directed all your pertinent questions that you have posed me to Mr. Sudheendra Kulkarni at his e-mail address: [email protected] for he is the author of the article in question. In stead of doing this you preferred to raise questions to me as though I am the author of the article. Anyway for your satisfaction and to the best I can, I am trying to answer your questions. And if you are still not satisfied please write directly to the author Mr. Sudheendra: Marshall asks: Could Dr Barad provide the link where the information is displayed as I have been unsuccessful in finding the info. My reply: I have already provided web link as well as the official source i.e. Union Home Ministry of India along with the subject I had forwarded to Goanet. Marshall says: Confining myself only to the Indian context as I am unaware of facts in other countries, I would like to state that Freedom of Religion and conversion is legal and guaranteed under the Constitution of India. My reply: Though this is out of context in present posting, I say that as per Supreme Court of India's rulings what you say is NOT CORRECT. Refer my posting under subject title - The Right to Convert - sent and appeared on Goanet on Sat 12/20/2008. Still if you stick to your belief question Supreme Court not me. Marshall says: Regarding utilisation of foreign funds, all recipients of foreign funds are subject to audit and have to compulsorily file their returns with the Home Ministry every year. My response: It is because of this compulsion Home Ministry of India gets factual figures of foreign funding received by NGOs and other outfits and after scrutiny the same are displayed on their official web site for the information of general public. Marshall questions me: Now, would Dr Barad kindly inform us how much the VHP, Ekla Vidyalaya, FTS and other sundry sangh parivar organisations receive from Indian and foreign sources? Also whether they have been auditing their accounts and filing returns with the IT authorities and also with the Ministry of Home Affairs? My response: As Above PLUS I am not working for Union Home Ministry of India nor connected with it. If you feel VHP, Ekla Vidyalaya, FTS, and other organization are not getting their accounts audited or not disclosing the funds received by them to Home Ministry, I suggest, you as a citizen of India (I presume so) write to Union Home Ministry of India or file a case against these organizations. No one has stopped you from doing this or taking any other measures. Wish you all the best. Marshal writes: Further, please do not try to run away and dodge the questions as you have been doing in the past. My response: Whether to respond to message(s) or not to is my prerogative and I give no authority to any person including you to force me to reply. Best regards, Dr. U. G. Barad
