Dear Venantius,

Goa Government cares not for the poor. whether it is Edna Vaz & Krupali Naik or
a 55 year old married woman gang-raped on the beach.

How else does one these acts this week:
1. There is a security alert and the Goa Police [Tourist Police, Coastal
Police,Goa Reserve Police, and India Reserve Battalion], the Coast Guard and
Navy are keeping the beach front under surveillance. In spite of all this a 55
year old woman, married, Goan, local resident flower seller is found at 7.30
A.M. by fishermen who informed the police about the woman: stark nude,
allegedly gang-raped, bleeding and unconscious on Arambol/Harmal beach in
Pernem taluka on 26 December,2008 morning. If gang-rape goes unnoticed, would
the Goa Police detect a terrorist in black clothing slinking in the shadows
with his AK-47 and RDX in a back-pack?

Navhind Times carries the report on page 5 in three columns,GT on page 3 in
single column 10 cm, Herald has it on the front page but in single column 8 cm
and as far as the ToI is concerned it is fit only for a brief mention in the
"News Digest". This is a 55 year old local woman, not a sexy 14 year old
foreigner like Scarlet Keeling or the daughter of the "German Mother"!!

In the meanwhile, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has resigned from the self designated
post of "Spokesman" of the Utth Goenkara ... but not before putting a spanner
in its works, at alleging being "back stabbed" to boot.

Mog asundi
