From Herald of January 4th Reference to this massage, I would like to inform you'll that, this is a fact that occurred in our village, more than two weeks back, which we have been following form here in Dubai as well, but held back the info so as, not to cause any more panic than already caused (security risk at the beaches) by the utterly unprofessional handling by our very incompetent Government. This particular incident had cause a bit of a flutter in our village, as it was soon after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the members of our village have been active supporters of all the anti mining and anti mega housing protest all over South and Central Goa, Colamb, Magoa, Panjim, Agonda and have been on their toes ever since the attempts to restart mining in our area. With our villagers being vigilant and on the lookout for any suspicious characters, these five young unknown guys carrying bags and a "laptop" were apprehended with the help of Canaguinim villagers and our Parish Priest and handed over to the Cuncolim Police, thereafter, there has been no news despite numerous request. They had told our villagers that they came from Bengal. About an year ago, there was another suspicious looking guy, who had been moving around the outskirts of our village with an iron rod, he was confronted by our villagers, who told them that he was looking for a five star hotel in our area, which sounded absurd as the closest five star hotels are at Mobor, and Canacona, ours is a very remote village, but when our villagers found some bills of five star hotels on him, they roughed him up a little and chased him out of the village, now looking at things and the 26/11 pattern, he could have well been a surveillance guy. There are a few questions that need answers, they came by boat and got on land through the rocky side of the coast, why not the beaches or the dock at Betul ? Who in the right mind would alight from a dingy on the very rocky and dangerous part of the coast with a laptop and heavy bags ? The cheapest and the fastest way to reach Goa from Bengal is the rail, so why take this long tedious rout ? Now with the New Year celebrations done with, I think, it is high time, the Cuncolim police advised us on the status, now with the police playing, dumb, blind and deaf, our villagers are apprehensive of the situation. What axactly happened to the five guys ? Are they still in custody ? or Have the our Police goofed up again ? The Public has the right to know !
