Hi Goanetters,
Thanks for writing in and sharing the possibility that he could have anglicised
his name from Tellis.

I was able to track him down to his passenger arrival list, as I had the name
of the ship he arrived on and other details of his date of birth etc. On the
passenger list, I gathered more information about him. He was English and he
left for the United States when he was 7.

As his complexion in the naturalisation certificate was dark hair, dark eyes
and dark face, my guess is he may have been Anglo-Indian but certainly someone
who could claim an English lineage. I tried to see if atleast one of his
parents was Goan (maybe a nice Goan name like Carvalho or Cardoso :-) but it
seems he travelled in the company of a care-taker and not his parents.

Best,
Selma
