All in the Family
From time immemorial family business has mostly stayed within the compound walls of the family, there was so must importance given to that aspect, that the spouses for the heirs, were also sought within family relations, so that the business stayed within the family, and that others outside the family could not benefit or get involved in it. With companies going public, things have changed and with the change of vision shown by the corporate owners, to ever expand and flourish, people have been looking far and wide, outside and over the family compound walls and most have realized that therein lies success, and the only way to move forward, is by getting valued and highly skilled professionals, to run and manage their companies, which has definitely helped a lot of companies to bloom and boom. Politics on the other hand has remained stagnant and the main reason being, it is looked into as a family business, dogs and outsiders strictly off-limits. The second reason being the same people have been digging themselves deeper and deeper into the muck of degeneration for years, with the same corrupt, non performing people, how can we expect progress and development ? If we want constructive development and a clean governance, we should change this apparel of archaic thinking. Who should join politics ? Or who is a true politician ? Politics like nursing and teaching is a very sacred profession. Politics is supposed to be taken up by people who are genuine, ethical, honest, straightforward and hungry to do something for the people and for their State and Country, basically they should be social workers with unmeasured love and devotion for the welfare of their fellowmen and their land and forget about their own selfish interest, a person of these virtues is a true politician. Does anyone in our Vidhan Sabha or our MP's have these qualifications ? An extremely easy corollary, isn't it ? A totally foolish question indeed !!! We all know the motives of our politicians for joining politics and we still vote them to power not just once but over and over again, and still, we do not learn. Are our Politicians bad ? Or Are we the imbeciles ? I am trying to figure out, what makes them think, that getting their siblings or their next of kin into politics, is only their, birth right ? Do they see the burning fire, to dedicate their lives for the welfare and service of the people and the land, in their siblings or their next of kin ? To me this is as absurd as finding a clean and honest person in our Vidhan Sabha !! So what is their interest ? Most parents want their children to be doctors, engineers or some other hi-fi professionals, to be successful, respectable and affluent entities in life, but our political elite want their siblings and their next of kin to join politics, so it stays all in the family, a family affair. Power, money and position, that's the name of the game and the motives of our today's MLA's and Ministers. Unfortunately the reverence of this truly sacred profession has been forgotten and is made into a free for all orgy of corruption and extortion, committed to the sins of commission and omission, generating a default polarization in the system and in constructive development. In Goa, our Politicians are moving at the speed of light, to further inflate their already bulging finances and finish off our God given resources and our scenic beauty in the name of development which is both perverse and destructive. Their persisting aversion for the truth and the will of the people of Goa will be detrimental and disastrous for Goa and Goans. It is now imperative that we as Goans take the pain to understand the priorities for Goa and Goans and not fall prey to the promises and gimmicks of our Politicians. Politics should not be FAMILY BUSINESS. Are there no GOOD people left in Goa ? Think hard and elect wisely. If wrong people are elected, there will be no development and there is also a strong possibility that we Goans could be outsiders in our own Beloved Goa. To Goa with love.
