We Goans need to be thankful to Mr. Hobson for having given us a choice in
our times of distress. And us Goans must be grateful to Frederick Noronha
[our own Fred] for enlightening us that such a choice is indeed available.
Frankly speaking, I, in particular, must say that I have been stung ( but
not too severely) when Fred chose to say that local political parties are
'irrelevant'. It reminded me of Derek Almeida's barb a long time ago and
the subsequent defense (of late) of that barb. But I guess Fred is right in
more ways than one about our local political parties who have had the
fortune to represent us at one point of time or the other. They are
certainly irrelevant to the extent of being the shame for us Goans.
Coming back to the Hobson's choice, my initiative to float
non-political-party based or simply 'people's candidate via 'CITIZEN'S [OF
GOA] INITIATIVE" through 'GSPEF' [ Goa State Parliamentary Election Front]
or some such initiative would be the right 'negative sponge' that Fred is
talking about that could absorb all the bile, hurt, let-downs, brazenness
that our 'two national parties have heaped on us thus far. And I believe
that this is a wonderful but wonderful hint that Fred has let go to bring
some sense into our collective thinking that we should opt for 'enough is
enough'. The two national aberrations called the Congress and the BJP have
not only cut deep wounds into our flesh but have liberally sprinkled the
Gandhian SALT mixed with the 'Portugali mirchi powder' into those wounds.
The Bogey of the 'communal BJP used by the Congress, and the bogey of
'corruption' used by the BJP is nothing but the grease that has been applied
over our burning wounds. The negative vote is the only way to show these
rascals the door for using both planks i.e. the 'Communal' and the 'Corrupt'
when it suited them.
As a response to the GSPEF initiative, I have received one positive response
from South Goa. I am in the process of checking out this person as this
person could be one of the short-listed ones, i.e. if more come forward.
Goans who have been in the forefront of fighting the various anti-people
policies of the governments for long through their associations, groups and
institutions could make a collective effort to come together to positively
look at this marvelous NEGATIVE option to get even with our long-term
marauders who have taken us for jolly good rides which have been, by and
large, mostly fatal.
And I must not forget the chiding that Fred has unleashed on our
educationist fraternity who come out boldly and blatantly to shore up the
egos of our corrupt and communal BIRTHDAY boys. Thank you Fred for this
vital barb and hope that these two concerned will grow roots into their
knees through repentance just like 'Peter' did over his three denials of
JC.
If Goa is ready for this NEGATIVE Hobson's Choice, so be it. WE WILL ALL BE
READY TO MARCH EVEN TO HELL TO SOAK THIS WELL DESERVING SPONGE.
