To,
Your Excellency, The Governor of Goa Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, Goa Sub: Ordinance to amend the Land Aquisition Act, 1984 as applicable to the state of Goa; reported proposal approved by the cabinet on 24 February, 2009 or thereabout. ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- - Refer: 1. Report on page 1 of oHERALDo dated 26 February, 2009 [copied below] 2. Report on page 5 Columns 1 and 2 of Times of India [Goa Edition] dated 26 February, 2009 Cidade de Goa owners, i.e. the culprits who put up the commercial illegality, are now made to look innocent, by the Goa Government. Can I construct an Illegal commercial structure, employ people and then expect tolegalise it on pretext of employee’s losing Jobs? Also, is the number of affected employees indicated, really true? Is the Government really concerned about the Goan employees or is it actually concerned about the Hotel Owners i.e. Timblo, for obvious reasons? If the Government does amend the 114 year law to benefit Timblo, it will open doors to legalise all other commercial illegalities in Goa, on Government Land or shall I say Peoples land!! Timblo & the Goa Government knowingly allowed the illegality and made fortunes on it; they should demolish it, as per the Supreme Court order and take full responsibility, to accommodate the “Goan” employee’s affected; at same packages & convenient locations. In addition, Timblo should part with some of the enormous “illegal “ profits from the illegality and give it to the affected “Goan” employees; if of course the Timblo & the Goa Government, genuinely cares for the employees!! * * I hope you will join us in condemning this, and sit on the side of justice. I hope that you do not sign this ordinance, in the interest of the State of which you are the Constitutional head. Yours truly Arwin Mesquita, P.O.
