I was talking to a friend of mine who works for a hydro electric power
company. We discussed about what electric power generaration business is
all about.
It is obvious that the power needs of this country are increasing day by
day and the supply is just not there. Here in Bangalore right now there
is at least 2 if not more hours of power cut every day.
Goan rivers could be a good potential for power generation. I was also
concerned about environmental issues. He said hydro electric power is
the less unfriendly to the environment compared to many other sources
of power generation.
Goa currently imports power from the other states. Does anyone know
how the Reliance - Salgoancar plant generate power, and where it is located ?
Power business requires good capital investment, but the demand is very much
there. Why not these mine owners diversify into power in a big way,
of course, precondition being that they shut off mines and other
environmentally hostile businesses ?
