GKA announces Konkani literary, seva awards PANAJI- Goa Konkani Akademi has announced its Konkani Sahitya/Seva Praskar scheme for the year 2008-09. The awards are divided into two categories, Konkani Literary Awards and Konkani Seva Awards. The details of the scheme of Akademi are as follows. In first category, Outstanding Literary/Grant Award: will include five awards of Rs 10,000 each in categories viz poetry, short story, play, essay, travelogue, research, science criticism and one of Rs 5,000 in the category of children's literature. Total six awards in this category are announced. The book published in the period of three years from January 1, 2006 to December 31 2008 will be considered for the award scheme of 2008-09. The awards will be for the books in Devnagri and Roman script. Sahitya Pratibha Puraskar: The award is of Rs 25,000. This is a lifetime achievement award for those who have crossed the age of 50 years and who have given valuable contribution to the field of Konkani Literature. Sahitya Pradnya Puraskar: The award is of Rs 25,000 and is also a lifetime achievement award and is for those who have crossed the age of 50 years and who have given valuable contribution to the field of Konkani language research, Grammer, Dictionary, regular Columnist, Tiatr writer. Yuva Chaitanea Puraskar: Two awards are announced for the youth working in the field of Konkani language. Each includes cash of Rs 15,000. The age of youth is limited to 40 years and he/she must have worked either personally or with the help of institution in the field of Konkani language, literature, music, education, research, culture and should have also shown their cooperative spirit in Konkani language/literary movement. Shenoi Goebab Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar: The award includes cash amount of Rs 25,000. Those who completed 50 years of age and who have worked in the field of Konkani Language as an activist, leader and have given their valuable contribution are eligible for the lifetime achievement award. The award is limited only for the jurisdiction of Goa. Madhav Manjunath Shanbhag Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar: The awards includes cash amount of Rs 25,000. Those who completed 50 years of age and who have worked in the field Konkani language as an activist, leader, organiser either in Goa, Maharastra, Karnataka, Kerala or any other state are eligible for this lifetime achievement award. Konkani Seva Sanstha Puraskar: The award includes cash amount of Rs 25,000. The award is for the registration institution which has contributed service in the field of Konkani language for last 10 years. The institution from Goa as well as outside Goa will be considered for this. The application forms and information booklet are available in Goa Konkani Akademi office, 243 Patto Colony, Panaji.
