As Mumbai dies , Dubai offers an immediate ready to move in alternative for those who aspire to live in a clean modern city within 2.5 hours flying time from the motherland.
The vision/mission statement of Dubai Municipality (not sure if Mumbai Mahanagar Palika has one) "TO CREATE AN EXCELLENT CITY THAT PROVIDES THE ESSENCE OF SUCCESS AND COMFORT OF LIVING" That's probably a slightly crude translation of the Arabic but conveys the objective. The good news is after the property price decline prices are now 1/3 or less than Mumbai prices (premium quality city Town Houses at The Green Community project are INR 7,000 per square foot ). And the quality of living conveniences 3x cleaner and convenient. Last December as Goa was viewed as terror threat prone the bollywood stars made a beeline for Dubai. Will the city's wealthy eventually follow ? For those who can afford a second home (or a first), Dubai is a bargain just waiting to be snapped up. ( A distinct advantage to Singapore, besides the travel time is you are allowed to freely chew gum in Dubai!)
