PANAJI: Facing some flak on its perceived soft-stance on the recently
promulgated ordinance benefiting a 5-star hotel, the BJP has stated that
the government will be answerable to the people of Goa in the coming
assembly.

Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar at Monday's press conference said
that the government would have to provide answers when it brings the
ordinance before the assembly to ratify it. "If they do not bring it
before the assembly, then it will lapse in six weeks," he said.

"The government will be put on the mat on the floor of the house. It has
failed to explain the reason why it has brought about this ordinance,"
he said.

Along with Cidade de Goa, others who will benefit from the ordinance
will be 42 others including a North Goa 5-star hotel, Goa Shipyard and
the Kadamba Transport Corporation for its bus stand at Panaji, the
opposition leader added.
