    public

I do support Blasio, Dubia is the most liberal place in the Gulf, I think it's
the only place where the cops are for the public, irrespective of the region you
come from, and most of the Public institutions are helpful, there are hardballs
or oddballs you can find in a few places, but that happens everywhere. The rules
are strictly implemented, there are no two ways about it and that's the reason
that there is so much law and order in Dubai.

Here one policeman could handle and keep in check about 150 to 200 people very
easily and if they are all Indians, one police could handle even 500, I remember
once I was caught in a rush while standing in queue for a bus to go to Sharjah
from Dubai on a Thursday evening, in between a few hundred passengers, mostly
from the sub-continent, there was chaos ever where, just than a policeman came
around and just a hand movement from him, was enough to send everyone into a
single line, you may call it fright or respect for the law but it worked. I was
utterly amazed, would that be the case in Goa ?

Talking of the atrocities reminds me of a story told to me by my sea going
cousin during the 70's, he was in Egypt and it was Friday, there was a queue of
criminals lined up at the public square, there among them was a men caught
selling liquor, so his hands were to be chopped off, but as his turn drew near,
he ran from the line and tried to escape, he was apprehended and along with his
hands his feet were chopped off, for the offence of running away from
punishment, horrifying and barbaric isn't it ? But can you imagine what would
happen to our politicians if such rules were enforced in India just for a week,
just a thought, I know it's not very amusing !!!!!
