I would not describe the United Socialist States of America as having a
socialist economy. I would describe it as having a very PECULIAR socialist
economy.

Mario responds:

To describe something it helps to know something about it. Does any serious
adult who is halfway lucid and well read believe that the USA has a socialist
economy?

As usual, Mervyn is wrong. When he talks about a PECULIAR socialist economy it
sounds more like Canada, which is substantially left of center, depends on the
US for much of its trade, for its national security if Russia tries to grab any
more territory in the Arctic, as well as for any serious medical treatment for
those who don't want to die while on waiting lists for their "free" health care
system, which, probably works great for coughs and colds and headaches and free
condoms and generic drugs whose patents have expired.

Here is the reason why.
When a public company makes profits, the profits are distributed only to the
risk takers or the wealthy.
When these same public companies make staggering losses, management gets a
bonus and then the losses are distributed to all those who did not take any
risks, but who are now the bearers/sharers of the losses.

Mario responds:

Unfortunately, Mervyn is wrong again, either confused by something he has read
in a left wing blog without any context or perspective, or proving once again
how little he knows about the US economy. This is not how it works in most US
corporations.

Rest assured that every aspect of socialized medicine is going to be expanded.

Mario responds:

That would be terrible news for Canadians, because they will have nowhere else
to go to get critical treatment in a timely manner:-))

The above statement only works when you provide the numbers. For example, the
numbers that compares the dynamics of the economy of China v/s that of the
USSA. With out the numbers, your contention is pure sentiment.

Mario observes:

I looked in vain for Mervyn's numbers. He hasn't provided any numbers either,
so his contention is pure wishful thinking too, and if it is on par with the
rest of his information about the US, wrong as well:-))

There is a reason why millions risk their lives to get into the US, patiently
waiting years to get in legally, or sneaking across the borders illegally.
There is a reason why the US is the world's currency of choice, regardless of
the recent rumblings, since there is no rational alternative to the size and
the safety of holding US dollars without hurting the very countries who hold
the most dollars. The Chinese economy would collapse without their exports to
the US.

There is a reason why the US holds the most patents and develops the most Nobel
Prize winners and accounts for many of the major inventions, and attracts the
best academic minds, regardless of where the individuals responsible were born,
but unable to be their best where they come from.

For anyone to even suggest that this is because the US economy is not dynamic
is pretty ludicrous.

Lastly, I love this Obama?

Mario responds:

I'm glad someone still loves him and his teleprompter because his job approval
is slipping in the serious polls as illustrated below:-))
