Joshua Parulekar is seven years old child with autism. He is presently a
student of the resource room (classroom with inclusive education) at Lourdes
Convent School, Saligao, Goa. Joshua has been swimming from the age of two and
trains regularly at the Peddem swimming pool. On April 2 nd- World autism
awareness day, Joshua will attempt to cross the river Mandovi, hoping to
sensitise people all over the world to a condition which affects hundreds of
thousands of children across the globe for which scientists nor doctors, know
the cause or the cure. Joshua swims to light a candle of hope not just for
other children like him but for all differently abled children and their
families----because every child has a gift and we hope his attempt will inspire
other parents to find the strength to accept what is and search for the
inspiration to explore what can be. IMPOSSIBLE is just I M POSSIBLE spelt
differently. Accompanied by his father, he will start at the Betim jetty at
7.45 am & will swim across to the Panjim jetty with the Special Olympics team
overseeing the event.
