Marshall gave an impressive cv of Dr Manmohan Singh. However, as they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. We should also see what he has done and said in his career.
During his time as the governor of the Reserve Bank of India, he allowed the looting of the banks in India by the Congress party through the loan mela scheme. He was also the part of the machinery which controlled the economy and prevented the natural talents of the Indians from exhibiting their true acumen. Acumen which we have seen being exploited in the post-1991 era. Dr Singh claims to have de-shackled the Indian economy during his time as the finance minister. But he has never admitted his role in the rigid control system that was in place earlier. This, to me, shows a lack of intellectual honesty. I can give many such examples. I fully accept that a person makes mistakes in his/her life. However, when these are not admitted, then I think there is a problem. Best regards, Dr. U. G. Barad
