Dear Tony, Goan cooks are well renowned. It was Goan cooks working onboard ships that created a brand name for Goans. When Richard Burton put together his second expedition into Africa, he ensured there were two Goan cooks onboard. Their names escape me now. Of late, Floyd Cardoz has been doing Goans proud on the international scene.
Goan cops on the other hand are also known all over the world. One of the newspapers carried an item yesterday that they stoped a car carrying tourists, returning from dinner and wouldn't let it go, until they were handed a Rs500 note. Note to all tourists, please carry Rs500 in your pocket at all times. This is a government tax issued on point-of-sale. Unfortunately Goan cooks and Goan cops are known world-wide for entirely different reasons.
