Dear Eugene,
I have not been following this debate as I have not been reading the internet 
these days. I just wanted to confirm that M.Boyer was indeed slightly hard of 
hearing on one side, and had had an operation to rectify this situation. It is 
common knowledge in Goa, that were he to be prompted from the wrong side of the 
stage, he would not hear it properly. He was in his early days loving called, 
"boiro" and some have hypothetised that the stage-name "Boyer" emerged from 
being called so.
