Hundreds bid adieu to M Boyer Hundreds bid adieu to M Boyer HERALD REPORTER MARGAO, JUNE 2 Hundreds of people from all walks of life bid adieu to the great Konkani Tiatr artiste M Boyer as his mortal remains were laid to rest at his home village Raia on Tuesday evening. Konkani stage artistes, tiatr lovers, priests, and large number of people attended the last rites as his mortal remains were carried to the Our Lady of Snows Church. Tiatrists led by President of Tiatr Academy Tomazinho Cardozo and a galaxy of tiatrists from across the State attended the funeral. Among the political leaders who paid their last respects were Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Speaker Pratapsing Rane, PWD Minister Churchill Alemao, NRI Commissioner Eduardo Faleiro, MLA Francisco Silveira, former chief minister Luizinho Faleiro and others. Noted tiatrist Prince Jacob described M Boyer as a great artiste Goa has ever produced, saying his contributions to tiatr and Konkani stage will not be easily forgotten. “By his contributions, Boyer gave a big push to Konkani language and tiatr as well,” he added. Eduardo Faleiro said Goa has lost a great personality in the death of M Boyer. “He was loved and admired by everyone because of his immense contribution to Konkani language and tiatr,” he added. Condoling the death of Boyer, Churchill said Goa has lost a great son whose immense contribution to Konkan language and art cannot be easily forgotten. President of Tiatr Academy Tomazinho Cardozo said M Boyer was the only tiatrist who had received the Sangeet Kala Academy award and “that showed his contribution to the art. He produced tiatr of highest standards. Through the medium of tiatr, Boyer highlighted the problems of society.” Luizinho Faleiro said “though Boyer is not with us, his work in the field of Tiatr and Konkani language is before us all. Through his contribution, Boyer enriched the cultural heritage of Goa.
