A lot has been said about the above issue, some for, some against, this is the beauty of democracy, But what's actually going on in India is democracy or not is highly debatable and more so in Goa. Getting back to the migrant issue, it sure as hell reminds me of the words of a famous personality to quote - "women - it's impossible to live without them and sometimes it's impossible to live with them" Ladies no offence please and do not label me sexist, I do have the highest regard for ladies and believe in equal status for both sexes, it also reminds me of another famous sports gay personality who said "why do we need men any way" ? My dear Goan migrant issue is very much the same. We may rave and rant about "why do we need migrants any way", but will Goa survive without them ? The truth is scary and it's staring us in the face, on the other hand how long will Goa and Goans survive this massive influx of migrants, please do not thing this is an exaggeration, it is most certainly massive. Goans, migrants are come to stay there is no doubt about it and no two ways about it either, and unfortunately we have to live with that fact. Ana, Vivian, FN have in their own way excepted the fact that we cannot live without them and in a way and to a limit that's true, Arwin, Rajan, JC have surely issue a forecast cast warning and put up the red flag to make Goans aware of the catastrophe that will befall on us, Goans, if we do not do something about it NOW, and that's the sad fact. Just because Ana Maria or Vivian think that they cannot find good, honest, sweet smelling Goans to do their man Friday jobs, we just cannot afford to let our gates open and keep on accommodating the flooding migrants till Goa becomes a Dharavi, the result of which, if anyone has missed while flying in and out of Bombay must have certainly seen in Slum Dog Millionaire. Do Ana and Vivian have a clue to what Kharebandh and Montidongor looks like in the heart of Margao, or the mini-Dharavi at Zuari Nagar ? My advise is get out of your ponds and see Goa as it is at the moment and only then will you realize what Arwin, Rajan and JC are all talking about. With regards to Goans migrating abroad, please be my guest and pack your "khatli-potli" and trying migrating to other countries and you will find the restrictions and the formalities one has to go through and only after a full proof screening are you allowed to migrate. Which country in the world or which state in India will allow migrants to outnumber it's locals ? Gulf is the only place where exparts outnumber the locals and believe me the laws are strictly enforced to protect and safeguard the interest of the locals, in the gulf expart's are not allowed to buy land and to invest one has to have a local partner with 51 - 49% share infavour of the local, exparts have no say in the local administration, government job to locals only. Secondly it is true that Goans have migrated to all parts of the world and the reason is very simple, if they would have found what they were looking for in Goa itself who would bother to migrate and even those who have migrated what is the percentage compared to the Influx of migrants into Goa and have Goans any where in the world been responsible for violence or scams or strikes or thefts and murders or involved in bringing in a cache of swords or involved in terrorist activities ? Do the migrants behave in the same way that Goans behave all over the world ? We Goans all over the world follow and respect the local laws and traditions and do not use open spaces as open air toilets !!!! Kabish ! Now lets talk about the solutions to this very monstrous problem "Special Status for Goa" and control over migrants. Special Status for Goa will certainly put a stop to outsiders purchasing our land, with that stopped real estate prices should be monitored by the Government to see that Goans in all wakes of life can afford a decent housing, which at the moment is out of reach of the local populace. Control over migrants can be done through registrations and colonies built for the purpose to be strictly given on rent and not on ownership basis or the employer should be made responsible for the supply of basic amenities for the project duration only, no ration cards or voting rights to be given to migrant workers, that will do away with the vote-bank politics and outsiders standing for elections and special health centers to curtail the spread any epidemics and diseases. That would be fair to everyone and Goa would be able to retain it's Identity, customs, traditions and heritage, it's will be a win win situation for all, but to put that into right prospective we need good, clean and committed guys in the Goa's Vidhan Sabha. So it all comes back to each one of us. Are we serious about what we want and the changes we want ? If yes then get people's candidates into the Vidhan Sabha and clean up the mess we have made, good rid of the cockroaches and the filth we have in our Vidhan Sabha. Goa Jai Ho !!!
