Valerio Carvalho, owner of Mapusa Service Station and allied concerns passed away on 6/06/2009 after a brief illness.
Valerio was a guy who was very well known and popular gentleman. He was one of the first in Mapusa to set up a modern Petrol Station around 1965 or so under the ESSO franchise. His old world courtesy, charm and diplomacy would come to fore when dealing with clients. He had a great sense of humour and was a very popular soul. The death of his daughter Shalini, who was an engineer struck him very deeply. He was a great friend of mine and for the last couple of years would call me up every morning for a chat. The day his phone call didn't come we would know that something was amiss. Even at his advanced age, he made it a point to use a computer and became pretty adept at emailing. Valerio is survived by wife Queenie, son Roque, daughter in law Yasmeen and grandchildren Aaron and Gavin. Valerio will be missed by many. I for one have lost a great friend.
