Precisely at this juncture we need prophets who will live and die for
Truth in the "secular" democracy. Catholic priests and lay people have the
duty to speak against abortion, which is a crime, and "gay marriage", which is a contradiction in terms...scientifically, medically, biologically, sociologically and ethically... What Fr.Cedric is doing is not against his priestly vows, but the concrete expression of his commitment and ministry for the people of God, particularly for the oppressed ones.

The work of Fr.Cedric Prakash is a priestly ministry, it is not the work
of a politician only but of every citizen, within their limits. Fr.Cedric is not "running for office".

Mario asks:

If he is not running for office what is all the fuss about?

If he is not running for office he can speak out all he wants regardless of whether anyone agrees with him or not.

***This "logic" can suit somebody who is far in the diaspora and is not concerned about the Dalits of India, but Fr.Cedric Prakash loves them, is devoted to their welfare and is facing threats to his own life in defending the fundamental rights of the children of God, the Dalits, the oppressed people... He is not "running for office", but he is running after the legitimate rights of our own brethren, and therefore he is concerned about being heard by those who oppress them and by those whose duty is to defend the Indian citizens...
Regards.
Fr.Ivo
