However, If I have understood Obama correctly, Obama wants to correct the current situation in the US where people WITH health insurance are going bankrupt. The 'for profit' health insurance companies are simply refusing to pay for medical services when people fall sick. Think about this for a moment. A person saves all his life and then retires. As soon as s/he has her first sickness, the for profit insurance company says, "sorry charlie' and the sick person has to spend all her life savings or die. Or spend all her savings AND die. Just the other day, Barrack (blessed be, his name) said on national TV that the US is spending $6,000 MORE per person than Canada does on health services and yet is no where close to having the free health services that all retired Canadians have. But this is only a secondary issue. The primary issue burning the US today is the fact that a man can get arrested in his own house just because he is non-white. Obama is going to rectify this absurdity by having a national holiday called, "Drink a beer with someone who arrested you day."
