Folks,
It's been a long time since I have read anything from Mario.

Mario responds:

Folks,
If Mervyn had read all my posts he would know that I patiently correct all the
misinformation he routinely posts on Goanet:-))  See more below.

Mervyn wrote:

However, If I have understood Obama correctly, Obama wants to correct the
current situation in the US where people WITH health insurance are going
bankrupt. The 'for profit' health insurance companies are simply refusing to
pay for medical services when people fall sick.

Mario responds:

To begin with, Mervyn has not understood Obama correctly.  Even Obama has no
idea what he is talking about, which is why legislators from his own  party are
confused and refused to vote on destroying the American health care system
before leaving on a one month vacation.

However, Obama has categorically rejected a Canadian-style system that Mervyn
and Bosco love so much as seen in this report from ABC News:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/07/abc-news-yunji-de-nies-and-sunlen-miller-report-president-barack-obama-says-he-does-not-want-to-raise-taxes-on-health-care-b.html

Excerpt:

The first question came via YouTube.  The President was asked why, unlike most
industrialized nations, he is not pursuing a single-payer health care system.
He answered that such a system would be “hugely disruptive” because of the
current systems reliance on employer based healthcare.

“We should be able to find a way to create a uniquely American solution to this
problem that controls cost but preserves the innovation that is introduced in
part with a free- market system,” the President said.
[end of excerpt]

Secondly, Mervyn's assertion that the insurance companies "are simply refusing
to pay for medical services" is clearly a bald faced falsehood.  I had very
expensive treatments for cancer and paid only a pittance in deductibles, etc.
Even people without insurance can get emergency treatment at any hospital in
the country at no cost to them.

I have no idea how anyone can write such poppycock that can be shown to be
false so easily.

Besides, I wonder if Mervyn and Bosco are hired by companies that are not
expected to make a profit, because they are constantly referring to the "greed"
of companies that make a profit or falsifying what they do as shown above.

Mervyn wrote:

Just the other day, Barrack (blessed be, his name) said on national TV that the
US is spending $6,000 MORE per person than Canada does on health services and
yet is no where close to having the free health services that all retired
Canadians have.

Mario responds:

I wonder which part of Canada Mervyn is living in.  If he had read my posts he
would have seen the following reports on the FREE health care system that he is
trying to fool us about:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/06/canadian.health.care.system/

and the following undercover investigation:

http://www.pjtv.com/video/Louder_With_Crowder/_PJTV_Undercover%3A_Steven_Crowder_Investigates_CanadaCareWill_ObamaCare_Be_Any_Better%3F/2153/;jsessionid=abclC2GRco1Bp-Bftqmls

Anyone who is familiar with this subject would know that in return for the
$6000 more on average that it costs in the US, the quality of care in the US
far exceeds Canada's third world system where health care is rationed.  They
don't even have enough physicians or equipment and are put on waiting lists
even to see a primary care physician and even longer waiting lists for medical
procedures that we can get within a few hours in the US if needed.  Even
without insurance if it is an emergency.

Mervyn wrote:

The primary issue burning the US today is the fact that a man can get arrested
in his own house just because he is non-white. Obama is going to rectify this
absurdity by having a national holiday called, "Drink a beer with someone who
arrested you day."

Mario responds:

This is yet another bald faced falsehood.  Mervyn is obviously referring to an
incident at Harvard University recently where an unruly black professor was
arrested outside his house by a white cop who was assisted by a black cop and a
Hispanic cop, but, as usual, he is distorting the facts out of all recognition:

Here are some credible reports of what happened including a video of the black
police officer who was a witness to the incident and another black officer who
knew the white arresting officer.

http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/us/2009/07/26/nr.comrade.in.arms.cnn

When you see these reports and compare them with what Mervyn wrote you will see
how confused he can get about what is going on the USA:-))
