Ana Maria,

I know you live in Goa, but perhaps you are not quite conversant with the
current rules and regulations for motor-cycle riders.

The reason m/c riders use the ferry is to avoid wearing a safety-device - a
crash helmet. I understand that within city-precints, or within village
precints, the rules make an exception to wearing a helmet; crossing the Mandovi
bridge means the m/c riders are crossing from city roads to highway, thereby
making use of a helmet compulsory.

Gabriel.

PS Whenever I am in Panjim or Margao, whenever the occasion demands it, I ask
the m/c riders - "what good does that helmet do round your arm?" :-))

Subject: [Goanet] Panjim-Betim Ferry stops Ferrying Vehicles

Cannot understand why, when there are two bridges, these two wheelers have to
use the ferry?
