But, somehow, it sounds off key. Why is it so? For one thing, Singapore does not have Goa's world-famous beaches. And, lest we forget Singapore, like another hit song Hong Kong, grew to be prosperous for historical and political reasons a world apart from Goa. So, why Sing-a-Goa? Maybe, we need to emulate Singapore and build hi-rise buildings as we don't have enough land and need to go up and up? Maybe, even Las Vegas might be a good model, not Bali where you cannot build higher than a coconut tree and the fruit of tourism is shared by the local people. Oh, no, God forbid! But our politicians are not all wrong, as there is some truth in what they say, and it is how the people of Singapore and Hong Kong are indeed fighting for a greater right to decide their future and their lives. Yes, in this regard, we might want to emulate Singapore and Hong Kong, too.
