Our 'wabbit,' she is well versed in the law of supply and demand : I steal
basil for her, from a neighbour, she nips my thievin' toes !
When pushed, cows and wabbits are likely to consume paper, currency included.
Humans cannot, and will not. When there is enough to go around, bread can be
accessed without the inconvenience of money : examples would be natives of
Guam/US Marianas, Abu Dhabi, Greenland, workers on White farms in Rhodesia. A
ruler who slips is reduced to scrawling one billion bananas on paper squares,
to no no avail. He stops when he runs out of cash to purchase dollar bill
quality papyrus from Sweden or Canada. This happened to Bolivia a decade ago,
and more recently in good old Salisbury, where men now trade trinkets, SA Rand
and Sterling, and most women part with 'special services' to get an
evening meal.
Currency is a necessary inconveniece for most nations. It makes for
an orderly distribution of goods and services, and allows for a little extra to
those who are willing to work a little harder. Tax policy decides on the level
of the little extra. Get greedy, and the misgotten send the likes of Mao, Obama
and George Fernandes to Parliament.
ps. Higher economics - Roland owes me 11 cents for the wood spinrope tops he
splintered, circa 1960. eric.
