I will admit that
the current high cost medical system in the US is not that great. I've
always had private health care. About 12 years ago, I had a sports
injury while I had temporarily relocated out of state for some
training. I was able to get emergency treatment for my injury, but when
it came time to get follow up treatment, I was told that I had to drive
two hours so that I could be within my private insurer's "network" ...
except that I could not drive as I had busted my arm. Ouch! what a pain
that was! Of course, I had the option of going for out of network care,
but given that I was then a broke, fresh out of school individual, I would
not have been able to afford it.  Luckily, my training assignment was
only for 6 weeks and I eventually returned home and got the follow up
treatment that I needed.

Marlon,
If you or anyone else want to avoid line ups in the emergency room,
here is a little trick my in-laws do to clear out the room and get treated
right away.

Carry a cloth badge which you can clip onto your shirt pocket anytime.
The badge should have the following words displayed clearly.

US BORDER INSPECTION AGENT.
