MARG to stage "EKSIDDENTT" MARG (Movement for Amity towards Roads in Goa) is a Non-Government organization which is working to create road culture and traffic sense among the people. The main concern of MARG is the increase of number road accidents on Goan roads year after year. Its only aim is to reduce the number of accidents on Goan roads. In order to achieve this goal, MARG organizes numerous activities namely workshops, seminars, lectures, etc and makes attempts to inculcate road safety norms in the people. They have visited hundreds of schools, numerous colleges and have addressed thousands of students and have effectively attempted to create awareness among the students and people. Kala Mogi's new production, a Konkani Tiatr "Eksiddent" (Accident) is an excellent attempt to create awareness about Road Safety in Goa. This tiatr has won the first award for performance in the just concluded 35th Tiatr Festival organized by Kala Academy, Goa, the results of which were announced yesterday. Besides being adjudged as the best tiatr of the Festival, Tomazinho Cardozo has bagged the award for best Direction, Mathias Mascarenhas for best Actor, Dnyaneshwar Morajkar for best Comedian and Master Karan Bhagkar for best Child artiste. Besides it has also won many awards for singing. The play "EKSIDDENTT" written by Tomazinho Cardozo exposes various aspects that contribute in increasing accidents on Goan roads. Some of the important causes of accident highlighted in the play are: Driving after drinking liquor, driving without licence, driving by underage persons, breaking of all traffic rules, bad roads, cattle on roads, corruption in issuing licences and permits, etc.,etc. "EKSIDDENT" highlights the plight of a family that has experienced a death in the family on one hand and the sacrifices of another family in which the only bread winner of the family has been crippled due to an accident. The play draws attention of the people to the fact that the families can be saved from disasters provided we, the pedestrians, drivers and authorities that issue licences and permits follow the traffic rules and do not indulge in corruption. The play makes a fervent appeal to the people to follow road safety norms and reduce the number of accidents on Goan roads. Comedy being an integral part of a good tiatr "EKSIDDENTT" too provides numerous lighter moments and sends the audience into pills of laughter due incidents of breaking of traffic rules on roads through out the play. "EKSIDDENT" features award winning artistes of Kala Mogi Candolim namely Irene Cardozo, Selza Lopes, Joslyn Misquita, Larissa Fernandes, Mathias Mascarenhas, Dnyanesh Morajkar, Shivanand Naik, Joy Fernandes, Tukaram Naik, Assis Cardozo and Eugenio Cardozo and Sheik Amir. The songs are rendered by Wilmix, Sharon, Ben Evangelisto, Sonia, Sucorro de Santa Cruz, Eugenio Cardozo, Maria Cardozo, Joao Cardozo and Tomazinho Cardozo. Stage sets are designed by Timothy Dias, Light Effects by Dnanjay Phalkar, Background music by Saish Desphande, Costumes by Irene Cardozo, Make-up by Chaya Revodkar and live music by Agnelo Dias. MARG has decided to stage "EKSIDDENT" at four places as per the per the details given here below: ? 12th Oct. at DMK Auditorium, Kala Academy, Panjim, at 7.00 p.m. ? 13th Oct. at JAF Hall, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, at 3.30 p.m. ? 14th Oct., at Hanuman Theatre, Mapusa, at 3.30 p.m. ? 15th Oct at Rajiv Kala Mandir, Ponda at 3.30 p.m. In order that maximum people attend the tiatr the admission is kept free. It will be on first come first serve basis. Few seats will be reserved. All tiatr lovers are cordially invited.
