Dear all: Those of you who have been on Goanet for some time now, would easily recall that we hold a face-to-face Goanetters' meet each year in Goa. This is usually held around the end of the year -- when we have more people (Goanetters included) visiting Goa during the festive season. The idea is to meet face-to-face, to share a couple of hours together, and to add a face to an email address :-)
This year too, we are working to have a meet on December 28, 2009 evening. The venue will be announced shortly. Please let me know offlist if you'd be in Goa this month, and specially around that date. Already, I've heard from veteran international journalist Alfred Tavares of Stockholm/Loutolim who's now in Goa, Menin Rodrigues of Karachi (will be in Colva, but earlier in Dec) and Stanley Marchon, among others. As more people get onto cyberspace here too, there are a growing number of Goanetters in Goa. Like, for instance, former Sacred Heart Parra principal Tony de Sa [email protected] who's from Moira, and who asked just today as to when the meet would be held. If you have been on Goanet sharing your campaigns and causes, please do come along for the meeting and tell others about the work you're doing. If you are an author who has published a book on Goa, bring a few along for sale, and let's put author-signed books into circulation! If you're a musician, get along your instrument! [Maybe the much-disconnected-in-Goa Karachi Goans could also plan a meet of their own, while Menin is in town. He's a very active community organiser, the author of articles on the Goans of Karachi (in the prestigious newspaper Dawn, etc) and founder-member, Board of Governors of St. Patrick's & St. Joseph's Colleges, Karachi. Incidentally, Menin <[email protected]> wrote recently about St. Patrick's College (Est. 1952): "After its denationalization in May 2005 -- after 33 years of government occupation -- the college is now well on its way to achieving academic excellence under the watchful eye and guidance of La Salle Bro. Lawrence Manuel, who has spent more than 40 years in in the Punjab (Multan) with La Salle institutions."] Kindly note, this is an unsponsored, unfunded event -- which means everyone pays for their own eats or drinks. There is no entry fee and all Goanetters are indeed welcome. See you there! For Goanet Admin Team FN Contacts +91-832-2409490 or +91-9822122436 (M). Kindly note that the land-line often works more efficiently than the mobile number. -- Frederick Noronha :: +91-832-2409490 ANOTHER GOA: http://tiny.cc/anothergoa Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/fredericknoronha Writing, editing, alt.publishing, photography, journalism
