Subject: Effective Colva Power

Many Colva Villagers, who have been protesting, have shown us the influence
of People's Power on the Government. How much better it would have been for
Colva/Goa, if this power where to be used to positively address in a
civilised manner, the even more serious issues of Colva/Goa i.e. (1)
Ravaging by Powerful Builders/Politicians by all sorts of illegalities and
turning Colva into a concrete jungle; for huge illegitimate profits (2) High
Water & Land Contamination from Mega Projects and other commercial illegal
operations (3) Addressing those panchas who are extremely corrupt and doing
all possible for a fast buck; at the cost of destroying the village (4)
Destruction of our beach & sand dunes (5) Disgustingly high level of
corruption in the Government (6) Holding the MLA accountable for serious
lapses in the village (7) Injustice to the lesser privileged people and
violation of their basic human rights (8) Garbage issue (9) Scourge of
Malaria (10) Sewage contamination by hotels on the coast and indiscriminate
licences issues to even more projects without proper Sewage Infrastructure
in place etc Surely we can all understand that there are even more serious
issues in the village which needs to be addressed now; as these will have a
disastrous effect on the area in the future!! We need to get our priorities
right and use our precious time effectively.
