I was having a conversation with Wendy Rod and somebody else appears and claims
Goan originality because of conversion. Atam the noveh alieh Goem kaiche kai

Dear Mr Colaco,

I'm of Goan origin. Unfortunately my ancestors had to leave Goa to avoid
conversion during the Portuguese times. Our temples are in Goa and my parents
came here every year with us so that we would be in touch. But all that is in
the past and we have to learn from history and not repeat the mistakes.

I'm a physician and studied and worked in the US for many years. I returned to
Goa 6 years ago and practice here. I'm also involved in many health related
activities in Goa to raise the awareness and quality of health. I returned not
as a retiree but in the prime of my career because I wanted my children to grow
up here and it has been a wonderful decision.

The lawless goverance that you speak of if of Goan origin. The ministers are
all Goan, born and brought up in Goa. The industrialists and people selling
their land are also Goan. It would be nice to blame others for the mess that we
are in but we are totally responsible for this. Besides anyone who could have
brought any change is not here as they have emigrated. The encroachments you
speak of are happening because labor is needed for construction and Goans do
not want to do such work.

But all in all, Goa is a great place to live in and bring ones' children up.
There are wonderful people who live here from all parts of the world and they
contribute to Goa's well being. People like Wendell who could have lived
anywhere in the world live here.

Regards,
Anita Dudhane
