Here is a recent University of Illinois study that debunks the false claims of 
lack of scientific consensus made by global warming deniers:

This study shows that 97% of climate scientists, intimately familiar with the 
data, and 82% of all atmospheric and geoscientists agree on major findings 
regarding global warming. Another survey done by the American Association for 
the Advancement of Science and Pew Research Center demonstrates that this is 
also the case with 84% of all scientists. Please see the link below:

The following paragraph, in particular, gets to the heart of the problem we 
face, and why I keep cautioning folks here to be skeptical of news reports in 
the lay press:
