Selma,

Thank you for this dose of reality and a word of wisdom towards the perfect way of bringing up a child, the gennext GOAN.

""I never had pocket money in my childhood. Let my children enjoy the bounty that God has given me"" line that we most parents follow be reviewed. We shall be able to keep the money for good use as well as keep the child as an asset to humanity.

Cheers

GOA does not only need HONEST persons to contest elections.
Goa does not only need HONEST voters to elect honest persons.
GOA urgently needs an 'HONEST SYSTEM of GOVERNANCE'.
Wherein, even a dishonest person is forced to be honest or to QUIT.
Such HONEST SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE is knocking at GOA's portals.
GOA SU-RAJ IS THE 'PRECIOUS GIFT' to GOA & GOANS by committed GOANS.
A 'GIFT HORSE' that must not be looked in the mouth.

Title: Who the Bleep cares about perfection and austerity?

Best of all I've learnt to be courageous enough to tell my child we can't
afford things. It's a lie of course. But the last thing I want is for her
to grow up to be that perfect woman with that perfect husband, kids and
house. The facile, vacuous, monstrous lie of perfection we, middle-class
Goans hide behind. Alright, I don't quite want her to be the blunder-bus
that I am either but that's another column altogether.
