Husain has sound reasons for not painting nude pictures of icons from other religions. They are:
1. There is no strong tradition of erotic art in those religions. 2. Eroticism and sexuality are taboo in those religions. 3. None of the icons of those religions inspires him to paint it in the nude. 4. He is afraid that a religious decree might be issued to kill him, and that he would not be protected by secular Indian laws and courts in that case.
