Tainted Goa 'drug cop' Shirodkar arrested 18 Mar 2010, 1426 hrs IST Tainted Goa 'drug cop' Ashish Shirodkar has today (March 18) been arrested by the Crime Branch of Goa police for his alleged with drug mafia in the state. The Crime Branch has been investigating the case after a spy cam video surfaced on youtube.com, of an Israeli drug peddler named Atala who claimed he had paid Shirodkar a hefty sum to buy drugs seized by the Anti Narcotic Cell from previous raids. He also claimed the officer had been paid Rs 1 lakh to release an arrested peddler. Shirodkar's anticipatory bail application is scheduled to come up for hearing in court tomorrow. Police sources say they will move for custody of Shirodkar, who has already been suspended since the expose. Four other cops including a head constable and three other constables allegedly involved in the scam have already been suspended. The policemen were suspended over allegations of protecting another arrested drug peddler named 'Duddu' ------------------------- Interpol moved for Israeli drug peddler's girlfriend 2010-03-16 15:50:00 The Goa Police are moving Interpol to question the Swedish girlfriend of Israeli drug peddler Atala arrested here last week. "Constable Sagar Salgaoncar was suspended yesterday after a local TV channel aired the footage which showed him accepting money without issuing challan," Superintendent of Police Arvind Gauns said.
