The views of Diana Pinto regarding the CM are definitely true but we repeatedly
focus on politicians and lose sight of the larger issue. Even if the people
whose houses are to demolished did not mind, is the NH4A road widening
justified? The same also holds true also for the NH17.
The question that needs to be debated is whether Goa needs a NH to pass through
its belly or not? Would a major district road not suffice? What is it that
Goans need to transport that cannot be carried to the hinterland?
The NH is being passed through thickly populated villages destroying the very
identity of Goa. How much road widening will suffice to satisfy the greed of
politicians and contractors and the Goans.
