"HANGED - DRAWN AND QUARTERED was a punishment for treason---high treason. One commits treason against ones own country. Although It rhymes better as Hanged, drawn and quartered, it went more like as Drawn (and takes two meanings; see below), hanged briefly (also variations on this trope) and then quartered. Essentially three steps. The quartering is of the limbs and not the heart.
>From the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanged,_drawn_and_quartered below (put up by some intrepid soul): The Oxford English Dictionary notes both meanings of drawn: "To draw out the viscera or intestines of ... a traitor or other criminal after hanging" and "To drag (a criminal) at a horse's tail, or on a hurdle or the like, to the place of execution". It states that "In many cases of executions it is uncertain [which of these senses of drawn] is meant. The presumption is that where drawn is mentioned after hanged, the sense is [the first meaning]."[5]. (In fact, the order of the words in the sentence has been demonstrated to carry no such definite denotation.) My Diplomas project was on Amnesty International. I made it a point to study torture techniques from books, but also had myself by the ankles to see what it felt like. Nothing seems to a deterrent although people (righteous) and systems like to/ tend to think so. Other than apparently have nuclear weapons. But then we are going from the micro to the macro. venantius j pinto > Message: 1 > Date: Sat, 8 May 2010 22:07:04 +0530 > From: "floriano" <[email protected]> > Subject: [Goanet] Ajmal Kasab - Fierce crime must get fierce execution > - the only deterrent (DEL) > > "No", he said.
