I somehow had a feeling that the "last sentence" of Alda would draw a response from JC!
Of course, we all know that the colonial times were the best we could have every dreamt of. Milk and honey (never mind if it was the Made-In-Holland kind) was flowing throughout the land. Goa was a free port, and a paragon of free speech. We even escaped World War II and all those horrors of industrialisation. Nobody dared to place on its head the local stratification, and the tenants knew their place :-) Now, could someone please tell me how do we get back to those "good old times", specially as post-carnations Portugal -- god bless their silly soul -- would be unwilling to take on the subcontract of effeciently running Goa for us! FN PS: Don't believe Patrice when he talks of "Lusostalgia". I assure you, it has more to do with centuries-old North-South European rivalry... and hope he's not reading this :-) Frederick Noronha +91-9822122436 +91-832-2409490 On 27 May 2010 16:52, J.
