In the Margao wholesale market a Goan lady happen to invite me and my wife to
buy and split the king fish equally. Vendor had quoted Rs.500 and our asking
price was Rs. 400/- Whilst bargaining a young tarvotti with all the gold
flashing on his fingers, wrist and neck
happen to inquire the price with the vendor who quoted him Rs 600/- Without
bargaining this fattened cow happens to pay 600 and walk away with the fish for
cleaning. Vendor was overjoyed and gave us a sarcastic look. He happened to
get more than what he had
quoted us !!! No wonder one finds fish coming to Goa from as far as Andhra
Pradesh.

Another instance I had bought a small vase from Bombay for Rs. 25 only to find
the same type in a shop
at Margao. I could not believe my ears when the salesgirl quoted me the price
for it as 250 !!! ten times more. I double checked to be told again Rs. 250 /-

Many wives of our Non Resident Goans spend lavishily the hard earned wealth
of their spouses, without Bargaining, which they feel is below their dignity

Its not tarvoteanchim bondolam but, I am above you Goan attitude, bringing
in more vendors from outside Goa. Vendors who are happily filling their bank
coffers. Believe me filling faster than our NRG abroad.
