All said and done, I feel that there is a legal loophole that can stop this
fraudulent "Development". The overlooking or bypassing the safety standards of
150 Kms distance from another operating airport by the government can lead to
accidents with massive loss of lives and property. Just a couple of days back
the radar system at Mumbai airport went blank for 21 minutes due to ongoing
work wherein a cable got cut, and the Air Control Tower was totally in no
command. Should something like this happen with Mopa & Dabolim functioning;
imagine the flights coming in for landing, and the fate of the flights in close
proximity, and the resultant destruction of homes on the ground.
Legally, I do not feel Government can compromise as far as safety of human
lives is concerned.
