It is indeed shocking that Adv. Radharao Gracias refers to the violent Maoists as saviors to the underclass. As a student in IIT Kharagpur I witnessed the violence that Maoists are capable of and to refer to Maoists as saviors is nothing but naive. While a student at Chowgulle College I remember an Economics teacher aptly remark that Marxism and Communism thrive where there are empty stomachs and emptier heads. The problem with Naxal infested areas is that there is lot of poverty caused by wrong headed ideology followed by people in those areas. Interestingly these poverty generating ideas were inspired by H. J Lasky from Oxford University, England and imported to India by well to do Bengalis and Keralites who were wealthy enough to afford a British Education. The reason Naxal violence has mushroomed in the last few years is that the central Government has not taken a firm stand against Naxalite violence. Consider the recent example when Tata Motors wanted to set up a plant in W Bengal. Due to the violence of the W Bengal populace the Nano plant had to be shifted to Gujarat thus ensuring greater prosperity in Gujarat and greater poverty in W Bengal.
