Yes Ladies and Gentlemen,

You do get some "telling" or "thought provoking" letters from some sections of the oHeraldo readership to the Editor. I wonder what we should make of such letters, do we agree with the letter-writers and concede that these guys are writing some sense or just castigating US Goans for working abroad to earn OUR daily bread/livelihood. In fact, if you take the Amchea Bapa, it is OUR constant reminder that we ask our Father in heaven, "Amcho Dispotto giras aiz amkam di," So, do letters like this "hit the nail on our Goan Nulls" or should we conveniently ignore such letters as the usual crab infested mentality akin to jealousy emanating from our Brethren in Goa ? One of the Main Problems why Goans Agree to Dis -agree with one another and that's why we are in such a Mess, We simply CANNOT OR Do Not THINK, ACT as ONE BODY and ONE SOUL as our faith dictates US to do. We are the only people on Earth who have a Self-destruct Button to dash ANY Hope or Hopes that we may have of BEING ONE, not only with the LORD, but in UNION with ourselves and OUR Gencho Saiba brought Faith !!

Barking dogs seldom bite
Juliano Baptista, Cortalim
This is a reply to all ‘Goans’ from abroad who write in the papers with great words of advice. While it is wonderful to see that are interested in your motherland and deplore today’s politicians who are feeding Goa to the dogs, it is absurd that you sit at your computers to write letters from thousands of miles away and take no action. Please quit your lucrative jobs abroad, come here and join the fight. You have absolutely no idea how hard it is to fight these rogues, who have tons of money power. The village groups of Goa are fighting tooth and nail for the people. They have achieved a lot so far, and are the real heroes. But this wasn’t accomplished overnight, and certainly not by writing letters in the papers. I am not saying that choosing a lucrative career in another country is a sin. But if it is your choice to tuck your tail between your legs and run, please do not advise us. We have good leaders. What we need is support with action. Barking dogs seldom bite.

Why not work abroad?
Jerome Goes, London
Diogo Furtado (‘Wisdom from afar’, Herald, 2 Sept) does not know that Goans who have worked abroad have contributed to the welfare of their families in Goa, many from poverty to a respectable life. Can any Goan have a decent life with the payment they receive from private firms in Goa that pay paltry amounts? A government job cost lakhs of rupees. How many can pay to get these jobs? Ask any contractor how much money has he to part with to bag a tender, and how much bribes he has to pay to obtain his final payment. If he is a true Goan, let him ask the Alemao brothers how they have amassed so much wealth.
