However,we must not lose sight of the larger picture, which is the sustained attacks on Christians in Karnataka as the latest Independence day speech by BJP MLA Pralhad Remani at Khanapur shows the kind of mindset we are dealing with. Please read the following report:
BANGALORE: Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Wednesday said he had directed his party legislator Prahlad Remani to apologise for his anti-Christian statements on Independence Day. "If he does not tender an apology to the Christian community for his statements, action will be taken against him," Yeddyurappa told reporters in Belgaum, around 500 km from here. Dear Goanetters: I detest the fact that apart from Dr Barad, who is a well known mad and bad Hindu fundamentalist, two Catholics have questioned Marshall' post on this subject. Marshall is one of the most secular minded poster on this forum. When marshall posts that the BJP government in Karnataka spend 50 crores per day on publicity against religious minority, I am sure he has done it with careful scrutiny. Justice Saldanha, apart from being a catholic and hence true christian is a retired judge and therefore is used to meticulously scrutinising evidence placed before him. He has written accurate judgements all his life. It is therefore shameful if anyone on this forum questions the fact that there have been 1000 attacks on christians in Karnataka. I believe strongly that the only way these attacks will stop overnight is when the BJP government in Karnataka is replaced by secular Congress government. The proof which Marshall will supply very easily is in the fact that Marshall does not write on violence in Orissa any more. Goanetters might not know this but this can be credited entirelyto the fall of the BJP government at the last election. Anil Desai
