Selma Carvalho: Sarto, (as Marshall informed us) is still alive in Bombay and it would be wonderful if we could interview him and get his views on the years just before liberation and his views on Goa, 50 years hence.
Augusto Pinto: What Selma suggests here is something that needs urgently to be done. However who will do it? For to go to Mumbai and search Mr Esteves and interview him needs time and resources. But if anyone of you knows anything do please volunteer with information. If the address of Sarto Esteves is known then that would be a start. Response: I will post you the address of Sarto Esteves privately. It would be worth your trip to Bombay. For close to him lives Dr Aloysius Soares Jr. son of the well known goan Prof Aloysius Soares author of 'Down the Corridors of Time: Recollections and Reflections' ( Profiles of eminent Goans, past and present <http://books.google.co.in/books?id=7DJLxYBYA-YC&pg=PA262&lpg=PA262&dq=dr+aloysius+soares&source=bl&ots=AZ4scFRre5&sig=Fa8egHzPjHHHO0Z4BwdF21iMq4k&hl=en&ei=UzOrTM2XDcaHcY2UtdME&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBUQ6AEwAA>). Not very far, just about 8-10 kms away in Bandra, lives George Menezes, son of Prof Armando Menezes, and a personality in his own right. I am sure that you will be able to collect nuggets of information about Goa and goans of their time. But make it quick. They are all well into their 70's and 80's. If I can be of any help, please let me know. Regards, Marshall
